Even had he got it correct, what was the point? I remember many years ago canvassing somebody who claimed, "Yes I agree with you, but I could never vote SNP because I have an English Granny". I was stuck for words just long enough for him to be able to shut the door. Not now!

It is becoming more and more obvious that the Unionist view is that Scotland is of value to the Union only as a cash cow, otherwise why the determination to deny FFA and the total lack any substantive argument beyond vague sentiment for its maintenance?

Keep up the good work.

Regards,Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3874384585810528859.post-58357592799998538892012-01-31T08:14:37.953+00:002012-01-31T08:14:37.953+00:00Excellent article and, as usual, you have managed ...Excellent article and, as usual, you have managed to dissect and then rip to pieces a speech which, although full of words, said absolutely nothing. Again we have a Unionist politician not giving us a single positive reason to stay in the Union; par for the course really. I do hope that closer to the referendum that they come up with positive reasons to stay in the Union so that we can rip their logic apart. I suspect that this will not happen though as they know that they haven't got any reasons to stay in the Union apart from ripping off our wealth. sad really. They have had 300 years to come up with a good reason and still haven't managed it.Gedguyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18217515188959770657noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3874384585810528859.post-34990384902937421672012-01-31T04:38:14.235+00:002012-01-31T04:38:14.235+00:00You are safe from a gubbin! And an inspired touch looking up his Dad's opinion of the English.
I realise that you're writing at breakneck speed, and the article is superb, but may I, as a former professional pedant, point out a couple of teeny-weeny errorcitos?

*"bated" not "baited" - a shorter form of "abated"
Whenever I see "baited breath" I think of Baldrick with the mouse hanging in front of his mouth trying to catch a cat.

*"whose" not "who's" - which is short for "who is"

*"plebeians" needs a question mark as you're asking a direct question

It's only my immense admiration for your mighty intellect that prompts this; your peerless prose deserves perfect presentation!
